MDFR is Hiring Fire Rescue Dispatcher Trainees

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue (MDFR) is now accepting applications for Fire Rescue Dispatcher Trainees through Jan. 12.

A fire rescue dispatcher is a valuable link to the public and to first responders who strive to protect and serve our community.

Fire rescue dispatchers are responsible for timely dispatching fire and rescue personnel to emergency and routine calls from citizens and require the operation of two-way radio transmitting equipment in a central communications network.

MDFR’s hiring campaign for the Fire Rescue Dispatcher Trainee position runs through Jan. 12.

Minimum qualifications to apply for the Fire Rescue Dispatcher Trainee position:

• At least 18 years of age
• High school diploma or GED
• Valid Driver's License
• Must be able to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays, and be available to work 24/7 during emergency activations
• Must obtain a 911 Public Safety Telecommunication Certification within the one-year probationary period and maintain it throughout the employee’s career

Preference will be given to applicants with an associate or bachelor’s degree in Applied Science in Emergency Communications or a related degree and Computer Aided Dispatch experience.

Applicants must take and pass a typing test and a computer-based skills test.
