Angel Rodriguez [email protected] 305-471-1900 Cargo Theft Investigation Results in an Arrest A Cargo Theft Task Force investigation resulted in the arrest of an individual, who was trafficking over 230 lbs of Marijuana. A Cargo Theft Task Force investigation resulted in the arrest of an individual, who was trafficking over 230 lbs. of Marijuana. According to investigators, the Cargo Theft Task Force consisting of members of the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office (MDSO) Organized Crime Bureau (OCB) Cargo Theft Unit and the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) had received information regarding a stolen trailer containing JBL speakers.  The stolen trailer's GPS led detectives to a warehouse, and during the course of their cargo investigation, they observed an individual acting suspiciously and standing near several pallets, containing unknown items on the side of the road.  When investigators approached, the subject ran from them, and after a brief foot pursuit, the subject was taken into custody.  A search of the pallets revealed a large amount of Marijuana, and they contacted detectives from the MDSO, OCB Narcotics Section, who assumed the Narcotics portion of the investigation.  The seizure yielded approximately 233 lbs. of Marijuana and $36,158 in US currency.
