Department of Transportation and Public Works announces MetroConnect service adjustments and fare changes effective February 1, 2026

The Miami-Dade County Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) announces service adjustments to MetroConnect, the County’s on-demand microtransit service. The updates include changes to service areas, operating days and hours, and the fare structure, designed to better align operations with weekday travel demand and transit connectivity.

Effective Sunday, February 1, 2026, the service will transition to weekday-only operations and introduce a per-trip fare. Service will be available Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Weekend service will no longer be available.

As part of the service update, MetroConnect service will be discontinued in the Civic Center and Waterford Business District service zones. Customers traveling to these areas will continue to have access to multiple transit options provided by Miami-Dade Transit, Broward County Transit service, and municipal trolley services, including City of Miami Trolley.

The Civic Center area remains accessible via Miami-Dade Transit bus routes 2, 3, 7, 9, 11, 12, 14, 15, 17, 20, 21, 22, 27, 32, 77, 95, 100, 101, 203, 207, 208, 211, 836, and 837, as well as Broward County Transit routes and City of Miami trolley services serving the Health District and surrounding neighborhoods. The Waterford Business District continues to be served by Miami-Dade Transit Routes 7, 57, and 73.

MetroConnect provides on-demand, shared rides for a variety of trip purposes. Riders may book trips to and from any location within a designated service zone, as long as both the pickup and drop-off are within the same zone. MetroConnect is not a door-to-door service; instead, riders will be picked up and dropped off at the nearest safe curb location, which will be confirmed at the time of booking.

Adjacent service zones are connected through designated transfer points. The standard MetroConnect fare will be $3.75 per trip, payable at the time of booking through the MetroConnect mobile app. A discounted fare of $1.50 will apply to any MetroConnect trip that starts or ends at an eligible transit hub (connecting with Metrorail, Metrobus, and TransitWay). All other trips completed within a service zone outside of the eligible transit hubs, will be charged the standard $3.75 fare. Eligible hubs will be shown in the MetroConnect app during booking.
