Samantha Choon [email protected] 305-471-1900 Dog Attack Leads to MDSO Deputy-Involved Shooting in Hammocks On Monday, February 16, 2026, at approximately 2:30 p.m., Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office (MDSO) deputies were in the area of SW 172 Ave and SW 161 Street taking a report of a prior robbery incident. On Monday, February 16, 2026, at approximately 2:30 p.m., Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office (MDSO) deputies were in the area of SW 172 Ave and SW 161 Street taking a report of a prior robbery incident. Deputies heard a commotion and screaming from the rear of the residence and immediately ran to the backyard, where they observed an adult male being attacked by two large, vicious dogs.  One deputy deployed his Electronic Control Device, which caused the dogs to disengage.  The dogs immediately reengaged and continued attacking the victim, causing both deputies to discharge their service weapons, striking both dogs. Deputies began providing aid to the victim, who was bleeding profusely, requiring deputies to utilize a tourniquet.  Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital.  The victim is in stable condition.
