Colome [email protected] 305-471-1900 Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office Deputy-Involved Shooting in Northside District The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating a shooting involving a deputy from the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office (MDSO). The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating a shooting involving a deputy from the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office (MDSO).   On Tuesday, February 24, 2026, just after 8:00 p.m., MDSO deputies from the Robbery Intervention Team (RID) attempted to initiate a traffic stop in the area of NW 17 Ave and NW 71 Street.  The vehicle fled, however MDSO aviation units were overhead.    MDSO aviation units observed the subject vehicle strike a civilian vehicle in the area of NW 17 Ave and NW 87 Street.    The subject vehicle came to a stop in the roadway.  Deputies arrived and approached the vehicle, at which time the subject exited the vehicle armed.    A deputy discharged his service weapon, striking the subject in the lower extremities.  Deputies provided first aid until Miami-Dade Fire Rescue arrived on scene and transported the subject to a local hospital in stable condition.   The adult female driver of the civilian vehicle was uninjured.  No deputies were injured.  Two firearms were recovered on scene.   The investigation remains ongoing.  No further information is available at this time.   UPDATE #1:  As your Sheriff, I remain committed to upholding the principles of transparency, accountability, and public trust. MIAMI-DADE ( April 27, 2026 )–

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating a shooting involving a deputy from the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office (MDSO).
