Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Welcomes into Service Two Units during Two Push-In Ceremonies in Miami-Dade County
Join us in inaugurating into service Rescue 211 and Engine 72 during two traditional push-in ceremonies taking place on Friday, April 3, 2026 at 10 a.m. and at 2 p.m.
Committed to continuously strengthening its community emergency response capabilities, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue (MDFR) will be placing two new units into service: Rescue 211 and Engine 72. Both new units will help enhance service and increase transport capabilities to residents and visitors throughout Miami-Dade County.
Rescue 211 went into service on March 30th out of Carol City Fire Rescue Station 11 to respond to emergencies in the Carol City area of Miami Gardens and surrounding communities. This three-person rescue unit will join Rescue 11, Engine 11 and Battalion 4 already in service at Station 11, adding to MDFR's emergency medical response and transport capabilities in the northwest area of Miami-Dade County. The addition of a second rescue unit at Station 11 will also enhance MDFR’s ability to handle simultaneous emergencies.
Engine 72 went into service on March 30th out of Village of Homestead Fire Rescue Station 66 to provide immediate fire-rescue services to the residents and visitors of the cities of Homestead and Florida City. Temporarily operating out of Station 66, this four-person suppression unit will serve alongside Engine 66 and Rescue 77 until the future Florida City Fire Rescue Station 72 is constructed.
This fleet expansion reflects MDFR’s ongoing commitment to meeting the fire suppression, medical, and emergency response needs of Miami-Dade County.
The fire service truck “Push-In Ceremony” is a tradition that dates back to the late 1800s when fire engines were pulled by horses. When a new unit came to the station, the community would join the firefighters pushing the new unit into the station where they could then hitch the horses and ready the unit for the next emergency.
