Peguero Rivera [email protected] 305-471-1900 MDSO Organized Crimes Bureau Arrests Two in Fraud Scheme On Tuesday April 7th, 2026, at approximately 5:15 p.m., the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office (MDSO) Organized Crimes Bureau (OCB) detectives arrested two individuals in connection with a large-scale fraud scheme that targeted multiple victims and resulted in losses exceeding $200,000. On Tuesday April 7, 2026, at approximately 5:15 p.m., the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office (MDSO) Organized Crimes Bureau (OCB) detectives arrested two individuals in connection with a large-scale fraud scheme that targeted multiple victims and resulted in losses exceeding $200,000. According to detectives, the investigation determined that the defendants, who were acquainted with the victims, exploited those relationships to gain their trust and solicit funds for discounted luxury items, including high-end watches, jewelry, and travel packages. The victims believed the offers were legitimate; however, despite ongoing assurances and delays, none of the promised merchandise or travel arrangements were ever provided. OCB detectives determined that the victims collectively paid approximately $200,259.85 through various methods, including checks, electronic transfers, and cash. The defendants allegedly provided false documentation, misleading explanations, and checks drawn on accounts with insufficient funds to conceal the fraud. Detectives located both defendants and charged them accordingly.
