The Miami-Dade Supervisor of Elections is partnering with the City of Opa-Locka and Commissioner Santiago for a Voter Education Workshop May 5
MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FL (April 29, 2026) – The Miami-Dade Supervisor of Elections (SOE), the City Opa-Locka, and Commissioner Luis B. Santiago are partnering to host a special Voter Education Workshop on Tuesday, May 5, from 5:00 – 7:30 p.m., at the Sherbondy Village Community Center. Following a short program of opening remarks, staff from the SOE will table at the event with educational giveaways and assist eligible citizens with voter registration, vote by mail requests, and any questions they may have. They will also bring and showcase voting equipment, including privacy booths, EViD pollbooks, an ExpressVote ballot marking device, and the DS300 tabulator, to get existing and prospective voters familiar with and excited about the voting process.
“Voter outreach is a top priority, and we are pleased to join our friends from Opa-Locka on this educational effort,” said Alina Garcia. “The more people who vote, the healthier and more vibrant our community is. We thank Commissioner Santiago for spearheading this innovative and impactful event.”
“Making voting accessible and easy to understand is important for our community,” added Commissioner Luis B. Santiago. “This workshop is an opportunity to help residents—especially those who are new to the area—learn how to register, understand the process, and feel confident participating and staying engaged in our community.”
