Senator García Champions Launch of “No Shame – Let’s Talk” Mental Health Awareness Campaign
Following today’s official launch of the “No Shame – Let’s Talk” campaign, Senator René García, Chairman of the Miami-Dade County Behavioral Health Advisory Board, issued the following statement highlighting the importance of expanding mental health awareness, breaking stigma, and ensuring residents know they are not alone.
"The challenge we are working to overcome is the stigma surrounding mental wellness and health. It's crucial for all of us to begin discussing this topic," said Senator García. "We want to make sure that services are accessible to everyone. When someone is struggling with mental illness, it affects the entire family. As a community, we can do much better. It's okay to ask for help because we all need someone to talk to at some point."
The “No Shame – Let’s Talk” campaign will continue through July 1, 2026, with multilingual digital outreach and educational initiatives designed to increase awareness and connect residents with behavioral health resources throughout Miami-Dade County.
