Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava and Commissioner Marleine Bastien will
be joined by labor, healthcare and business leaders, to address the devastating impacts
the end of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haitian nationals will have on local
families and the South Florida economy.

<p><span data-contrast="none">The county’s business community and workforce
leaders are joining forces to warn against the drastic impacts this policy
change will have across industries ranging from healthcare to hospitality. The
end of TPS will strip immigration protections from an estimated 350,000 Haitian
nationals across the country, including tens of thousands of Miami-Dade
County residents. Many of them have been living, working and
paying taxes in this community for years.</span></p>

nearly 3 million residents, and manages an annual budget of approximately $12 billion.
She is focused on building a more resilient and prosperous Miami-Dade. Her initiatives
include combating gun violence, building a future ready economy full of opportunity,
tackling the housing crisis, and preserving our precious environment. </span></p>

County Commissioner for District 8 and worked with vulnerable populations through

her husband, Dr. Robert Cava, she raised two children, Eliza and Edward, in Miami-Dade.</span></p>
