The Miami-Dade Economic Advocacy Trust (MDEAT) has completed its 2026 Business Empowerment Blueprint Grant Cycle, investing into 36 small businesses and nonprofit organizations across Miami-Dade County. This year's grant cycle awarded a total of $232,500 in capital across two distinct funding tracks: <ul> <li>Small Business Capitalization Grant ($10,000): Awarded to 19 established businesses to strengthen operations, scale infrastructure, and expand workforce capacity.</li> <li>Business Resource Grant ($2,500): Awarded to 17 emerging businesses to build an operational foundation for long-term stability.</li> </ul> The grant cycle reached entrepreneurs in every corner of the county, spanning North, Central, and South Dade and touching ten commission districts. "What we're celebrating isn't just 36 grants, it's 36 businesses that are now stronger, better resourced, and better positioned to grow right here in Miami-Dade County," said William “Bill” Diggs, Executive Director of MDEAT. Following the riots that erupted in 1980 after officers were acquitted for the death of Arthur McDuffie, the City of Miami and Miami-Dade County collaborated to create Metro-Miami Action Plan (MMAP) in 1983 as a solution to socioeconomic disparities in employment, economic development, education, housing, health and human services and criminal justice. In 1992, MMAP was further empowered by becoming a trust, and in September 2009 it was reorganized into MDEAT by ordinance 09-70. The Miami-Dade Economic Advocacy Trust (MDEAT) has completed its 2026 Business Empowerment Blueprint Grant Cycle, investing into 36 small businesses and nonprofit organizations across Miami-Dade County.

This year's grant cycle awarded a total of $232,500 in capital across two distinct funding tracks:

Small Business Capitalization Grant ($10,000): Awarded to 19 established businesses to strengthen operations, scale infrastructure, and expand workforce capacity.
