The Dennis C. Moss Cultural Arts Center kicks off 2026-2027 arts season with two nights of free live music for the community this October. The Center will present "The President’s Own" United States Marine Band on Friday, October 16, at 8:00 p.m., followed by the annual Backyard Bash Season Kickoff Concert on Saturday, October 17, at 7:00 p.m., featuring The Legendary Wailers with special guest Third World.
These back-to-back events celebrate both a historic national milestone and a new season of cultural programs at the Moss Center. The United States Marine Band performance is presented as part of the America 250 celebrations, commemorating the 250th anniversary of the United States.
“The President’s Own” United States Marine Band – Friday, October 16
America’s oldest continuously active professional musical organization will take the Moss Center stage for a special free concert celebrating song, tradition and the Armed Forces as part of America 250. Founded in 1798 by an Act of Congress, “The President’s Own” has performed for every U.S. President since John Adams. For the upcoming performance, Marine Band Director Lt. Col. Ryan Nowlin has programmed an engaging mix of traditional band repertoire, Sousa marches, contemporary compositions, vocal and instrumental solos, and a patriotic salute to the Armed Forces.
Advance tickets for the free performance have been fully claimed. An additional 100 complimentary tickets will be held for distribution on the day of the performance and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Backyard Bash – Saturday, October 17
The following evening, the Moss Center kicks off its 2026-2027 season with its celebrated annual Backyard Bash, headlined by The Legendary Wailers with special guest Third World. Led by Junior Marvin, who joined Bob Marley & The Wailers in 1977, The Legendary Wailers will bring reggae favorites including “Stir It Up,” “Could You Be Loved” and “Three Little Birds” to the Moss Center. Nine-time GRAMMY®-nominated Reggae Ambassadors Third World will also perform, bringing the group’s signature blend of reggae, R&B, funk, pop and rock.
Free tickets for Backyard Bash are available beginning Thursday, October 8, 2026, with a limit of four tickets per person. A limited number of additional tickets will also be held for day-of distribution, subject to availability. Guests are invited to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets, as seating is not provided.
For details and questions regarding ticket availability about these events, please contact the Moss Center Box Office at (786) 573-5300 or email [email protected].
