Deering Estate invites shoppers to celebrate 10 Years of Museum Store Sunday on Nov. 29
On Nov. 29, 2026, Deering Estate invites shoppers to visit the Gift Shop on the tenth annual Museum Store Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. As part of Museum Store Sunday, guests who make a minimum purchase of $10 in the Deering Estate Gift Shop will receive a complimentary nature inspired item provided by the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB).
“We’re incredibly proud to have the Deering Estate participate in Museum Store Sunday. This event highlights the importance of cultural institutions and the unique role museum stores play in supporting education, preservation, and community engagement. By joining museums across the globe, we’re able to celebrate our mission, connect with our visitors in a meaningful way, and showcase curated items that support the Estate’s programs and conservation efforts.” — Karen Solms, Chief of Deering Estate
Since the Museum Store Association (MSA) launched Museum Store Sunday in 2017, participation has more than tripled from 670 cultural institutions to 2,360 and counting. The global advocacy campaign’s slogan, “Shop With Purpose,” conveys the organization’s mission to promote economic sustainability and cultural engagement for museums and the communities they support.
Elizabeth Price, executive director of MSA, says museum stores offer conscious consumers a unique alternative to big-box retailers.
“Today’s shoppers seek value and want every dollar to do more,” Price said. “As consumers watch their budgets and cultural institutions navigate funding cuts, Museum Store Sunday makes every purchase count. Shoppers can discover gifts they can’t find at traditional retailers, spend meaningful time with family and friends at trunk shows and workshops, and support the museums and cultural organizations that enrich their communities, all without stretching their holiday budgets.”
Chacho Herman, president of MSA and director of earned income at the San Diego Museum of Art, explains how Museum Store Sunday has become a Thanksgiving holiday weekend tradition.
“Museum Store Sunday has shown millions of shoppers how every museum store purchase makes a difference,” Herman said. “Museum stores offer distinctive gifts inspired by art, history, science, exhibitions and local culture, many of which are made by shoppers’ neighbors and friends. Whether visitors are exploring a new show, enjoying a meal at the museum café or searching for the perfect holiday gift, they can experience the thrill of discovery while directly supporting the museums they love.”
