Miami-Dade County employees are scheduled for New Employee Orientation Training during their new hire processing appointment.

New employees will be scheduled to attend an orientation workshop within the first two weeks of their date of hire to ensure that they begin County employment understanding how their performance impacts the County's mission.
The County's results oriented government philosophy is the centerpiece of the orientation workshop. Other key concepts of the workshop include ''learning your role in the County's mission'' and embracing the important philosophy of ''everything matters.''
The NEO workshop addresses, in part, the County's Human Capital Development Leadership Competencies. In addition to the above mentioned one-day workshop, all new and existing employees are required to complete the following online workshops. The online courses for new employees are required to be completed within one month of hire.

This workshop is a required course for all Miami-Dade County employees. Topics covered include how ethics plays an important role at the workplace, learn about ordinances relating to ethics, understand the roles of the Ethics Commission & Public Trust and Office of Inspector General (OIG), address recent regulations, advisory opinions, and County policies.

This workshop is a required course for all Miami-Dade County employees. Topics covered include a history of Miami-Dade County, County form of government, senior staff and elected officials, the County's web portal, departments' background information, importance of customer service, and relevant information that benefits County employees internally and externally as County residents.

This workshop is a required course for all Miami-Dade County employees. This workshop gives participants a good foundation on meeting the County's vision statement, ''Delivering Excellence Every Day.'' Participants will learn that service excellence is a major sub-component of a results-oriented government.
Taking customer service up a notch by providing service excellence to internal and external customers is the main focus of this workshop. By the end of this workshop, participants will also have a better understanding of the County's strategic planning model and how they add value to the organization.

This online workshop is a required course for all Miami-Dade County employees. SecureIT training is a proactive Countywide program designed to support digital security awareness. It provides access to eLearning trainings that focus on security awareness and protection of our customer data. During each of the courses, there will be intermediate quizzes and a test at the end.
- Identity Theft Management (Red Flags)
Identity Theft Management (Red Flags) training a mandatory requirement for any business or organization that acts as a creditor holding covered accounts. The purpose of this training is to educate staff on detecting the warning signs or ''red flags'' of identity theft and the awareness of the County's Identity Theft Program. By identifying red flags, County staff will be in a better position to spot an imposter trying to defraud the County by using someone else's identity to get products and services. - Payment Card Industry (PCI)
Payment Card Industry (PCI) training is a mandatory requirement for any business or organization that accepts credit cards or processes cardholder information. This training will ensure that the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI-DSS) are explained clearly, emphasizing individual and organizational responsibility toward securing cardholder information. - Security Awareness
Security awareness training includes best practice guidelines that all organizations should follow. Educating employees not only helps keep the organization protected, but it also provides knowledge which is beneficial in protecting employees at home as well. Concepts presented can be easily applied in protecting your own identity and financial information.

- Identity Theft Management (Red Flags)

The Employee Protection Ordinance (EPO) was amended by the Board of County Commissioners to empower employees to safely and securely disclose activity that constitutes fraud, waste, abuse or misconduct. To ensure that all Miami-Dade County employees understand the amendment the Office of the Inspector General has produced an online video and quiz to inform you of your protections under the Employee Protection Ordinance.
All employees must watch the training video before attempting the quiz.
Plan to use 30 to 45 minutes to complete the process.

The Diversity Matters program supports the County's goals to create and maintain a diverse, results-oriented, high-performing workforce; cultivate a flexible and inclusive work environment; and ensure accountability at all levels of our organization. The training courses available are Global Anti-Harassment, Preventing Retaliation, and Preventing Workplace Discrimination. Each training is a one hour program covering topics in equal employment opportunity, anti-discrimination law, cultural sensitivity and valuing diversity.
Participation in the Diversity Matters program is mandatory for all County employees.

Implementing Order 7-45 was approved by the Board of County Commissioners in December 2019, replacing previous anti-discrimination policies. This online video will ensure that all Miami-Dade County employees understand the County's policy related to these topics, their protections and their responsibilities.
