Miami-Dade County's Responsible Wages and Benefits for Construction Contracts

The Board of County Commissioners requires payment of specified minimum wages and benefits to employees working on County construction contracts valued over $100,000 and privately funded construction on County-owned land valued over $5 million, as outlined in Section 2-11.16 of the Miami-Dade County Code.

Due to Florida House Bill 705, this requirement now applies only to:
  • County construction contracts awarded before July 1, 2024
  • Surtax-funded County projects
  • Leases for privately funded construction on County-owned land
Rates must meet or exceed those listed in the Wage and Benefits Schedule, effective January 1 of the year the work is performed. Employees must be paid the appropriate base rate and fringe benefits for the classification of work actually performed, regardless of skill level.

If a classification is not listed in the schedule, contact the Strategic Procurement Development Department at 305-375-3111 for a determination.
