Rental Car Company Laws

Rental car companies must meet a series of regulations that include:
  • Prohibit placement of a bumper sticker or sign identifying a vehicle as a rental
  • Requiring fuel tanks to be at least half-full when provided to a renter
  • Making crash-tested child restraint devices available for rent for children age 5 or under. The rental car company must post a notice at the facility or as part of the rental car agreement providing details and costs
  • Providing information and cost about renting a SunPass to process toll charges. Any SunPass-related fees must be posted at the facility
Facilities must provide a visitor information map and safety tips using Miami-Dade County standards, as well as receive a signed or initialed acknowledgement form from each renter, or a posted notice of the availability of an information map.
