Cassandra Jones - Interim Director

Cassandra Jones is a committed public servant working with Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation Department (MDCR) for over 30 years. During her career, she has worked as a correctional officer and supervisor in the Pre-Trial Detention Center, Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, and the Metro West Detention Center and the Intake and Release Bureau giving her significant operational experience. She has also gained extensive knowledge as a professional correctional administrator having served as a Division Chief and then as the Assistant Director of Custody Services overseeing the management of MDCR detention facilities, intake and release function, court services, and hospital services. She also served as the Assistant Director of Support Services overseeing inmate reentry and programming activities, alternative-to-incarceration programs such as house arrest, pretrial services, and the Boot Camp Program, and managing compliance and accreditation efforts.

She earned her Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from Nova Southeastern University and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Florida International University. Valuing the importance of correctional accreditation and inspection efforts, Ms. Jones became a Certified Jail Assessor from the Florida Correction Accreditation Commission, a Certified Jail Inspector from the Florida Model Jail Standards Commission, and a Certified Jail Manager from the American Jail Association. She is also a graduate of the Executive Leadership Program from Nova Southeastern University and from the prestigious National Jail Leadership Command Academy, a collaboration between the American Jail Association and the Correctional Management Institute of Texas and is an American Jail Association’s Certified Jail Manager. Most recently, she has been appointed Interim Director of the Miami-Corrections and Rehabilitation Department by Mayor Daniella Levine Cava.
