Miami-Dade County has always been a diverse melting pot comprised of people from all over the world. Naturally, Miami-Dade embodies hundreds of cultures that all have their own unique faiths, religions and denominations. Established in 2020 and young in its history, the Interfaith Advisory Board (IAB) serves as a voice for all communities by engaging in interfaith dialogue and voicing relevant concerns to the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners. The IAB will continue to stretch its wings and add to its history over the course of time.
The Miami-Dade County Interfaith Advisory Board (IAB) provides the opportunity for increased involvement by faith-based, religious and spiritual leaders to come together and address issues of great importance within Miami-Dade County. Members of the IAB work cooperatively on common matters that affect individuals of different faiths and the community at large with the goal of mutual understanding and respect for one another. Members of the IAB are also tasked with advising the Board of County Commissioners on issues relevant to faith-based, religious and spiritual communities.
The Office of Community Advocacy is looking for volunteers to serve as liaison between the Advisory Boards and the Miami-Dade County community at large.
Requirements:
All volunteer members must be permanent residents of Miami-Dade County. In addition, members should have demonstrated an interest in the field, activity or sphere covered by the board.
The primary consideration in appointing volunteer members is to provide the board with the needed technical, professional, financial, business or administrative expertise.
Please note: all volunteers must pass a background check, provided by Miami-Dade County.
To assist in an advisory capacity to the County Commission, the County administration and all agencies and persons in respects to matters by engaging in interfaith dialogue and voicing relevant concerns.
To help formulate and recommend plans and programs for coordination of the activities of governmental entities and nongovernmental agencies by engaging in interfaith dialogue and voicing relevant concerns.
Meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month, except for April and Dec. at 2 p.m. on the 10th Floor Conference Room 1011 at the Stephen P. Clark Center.
