Commissioner Monestime to host virtual event to kickoff Haitian Cultural Heritage Month

In honor of Haitian Cultural Heritage Month, Miami-Dade Commissioner Jean Monestime will highlight the beauty of Haiti’s language, sights and sounds with a free virtual celebration from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 2.

Commissioner Monestime statement on the passing of Congressman Alcee Hastings

He was a champion for the rights of minorities, women, the elderly, children and immigrants. For Haitian immigrants, especially, he has given his steadfast support to our causes and has been a true advocate on behalf of our community. He urged President Obama—'by simply the stroke of a pen'—to allow Haitians already in this country to remain and work here legally to send money to their impoverished families.

Miami-Dade County Commissioner Jean Monestime hosted a sign unveiling for the Gratigny Neighborhood Association on March 19 at 1110 NW 108th St. in Miami.

Commissioner Monestime seeks limits on third-party food delivery fees

The Miami-Dade County Commission on March 16 approved a resolution sponsored by Commissioner Jean Monestime urging the state to help the restaurant industry by limiting service fees charged to restaurants by third-party food delivery services during a declared state of emergency.

Commission Monestime improves Homebuyer Loan Program

The Miami-Dade County Commission on March 2 unanimously gave final approval to an ordinance sponsored by Commissioner Jean Monestime to help more low- and middle-income individuals achieve the dream of homeownership.
