About Commissioner Vicki L. Lopez

The Honorable Vicki L. Lopez was appointed to the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners and sworn in on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, bringing decades of public service, community leadership, and professional experience to her new role.  Commissioner Lopez is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame, where she earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting.

Commissioner Lopez has an extensive record of state and local service.  She was elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 2022 and has been reelected since.  Earlier in her career, she served on the Lee County Commission from 1990 to 1993.  Her statewide leadership includes appointments by multiple Florida governors to key boards and task forces, including serving as Chairman of the Governor’s Ex-Offender Task Force, Vice Chair of the Department of Corrections Reentry Advisory Council, and Chairman and Treasurer of the Prison Rehabilitative Industries and Diversified Enterprises Board.  She also contributed to juvenile justice reform as a member of the Florida Senate Juvenile Justice Education Work Group and helped shape tourism policy through the Florida Tourism Commission’s Industry/Government Affairs Committee.

A practicing Catholic, she is passionate about civic engagement and personal well-being.  Her wide-ranging interests include cooking, entertaining, fine dining, horseback riding, meditation, music, reading, traveling, water sports, yoga, walking, and spending time with family.

With her blend of experience, commitment to public service, and deep ties to the community, Commissioner Lopez steps into her role as Miami-Dade County Commissioner ready to serve and lead.
