Born with the odds stacked against him, McGhee was categorically stamped “emotionally handicapped” at the age of six. With a 78 IQ, 1.9 GPA, a 580 SAT score, and a 0% chance of surviving past the age of 21, his path seemed preordained for failure. Yet, his journey would redefine the narrative, transforming these obstacles into a foundation for extraordinary success.

As a graduate of Howard University and the Thurgood Marshall School of Law, McGhee emerged as a modern-day trailblazer in law, politics, and advocacy. His influence extends far beyond his professional achievements, touching countless lives through his commitment to public service.

A Visionary Leader
Elected as both a Florida State Representative and a Miami-Dade County Commissioner by historic margins, McGhee’s leadership has been defined by bold initiatives and tangible results. As a State Representative, he was elected Florida House Democratic Leader, becoming the most impactful and influential leader since 1974. His instrumental role in establishing the Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) law in Florida revolutionized opportunities for student-athletes, setting a precedent for equity and empowerment nationwide. His creation of the Florida Slavery Memorial at the Florida Capitol stands as a powerful acknowledgment of the past and a commitment to justice.

As Vice Chairman of the Miami-Dade County Commission, McGhee secured over $11 million in funding for nonprofits and small businesses in his district, driving economic development and supporting recovery efforts in underserved communities. In addition to his leadership role, he spearheaded the creation of an Affordable Housing Blueprint for Miami-Dade, alongside numerous impactful policies and initiatives aimed at improving residents' quality of life.

The McGhees are also proud parents to three wonderful children and two beloved dogs, exemplifying their commitment to family and community.
