Commissioner Kionne L. McGhee

Kionne McGhee grew up in South Dade public housing and went on to earn a bachelor's degree from Howard University and a Juris Doctorate from the Thurgood Marshall School of Law.

He was first elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 2012 for Florida House District 117 and served as the Minority Leader from 2018 to 2020, when he was elected as Miami-Dade County Commissioner for District 9.

Safety Net Summer Youth Employment Program by the Office of Commissioner Kionne McGhee

The Office of Commissioner Kionne McGhee is committed to keeping our community safe and providing employment, counseling services, professional development, and entrepreneurship skills to the youth of District 9. A major focus of this initiative is partnership through local organizations and businesses to provide opportunities for our youth. Youth ages 15-18 will earn $13.88 an hour for 140 hrs to include 20 hours of Work Readiness Skill Training.

Commissioner Kionne L. McGhee Advances Resolution Investigating Feasibility of Raising Save Our Seniors Homeowners’ Relief Fund payments

The Resolution requires the County Mayor to study the likelihood of being able to successfully increase the yearly payments and provide a report to the Board of County Commissioners within 60 days regarding the feasibility of the increase.

In order to serve constituents without Internet access, Commissioner McGhee’s office will serve as a registration site for those who do not have access to a computer or Wi-Fi service.
