Commissioner Kionne L. McGhee

Kionne McGhee grew up in South Dade public housing and went on to earn a bachelor's degree from Howard University and a Juris Doctorate from the Thurgood Marshall School of Law.

He was first elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 2012 for Florida House District 117 and served as the Minority Leader from 2018 to 2020, when he was elected as Miami-Dade County Commissioner for District 9.

Commissioner McGhee's resolution recognizes May 20 as Military Appreciation Day in Miami-Dade County

Military Appreciation Day will serve as a reminder to all Miami-Dade residents of the sacrifices and contributions made by our military personnel and their families. This day provides an opportunity to honor our veterans, those currently serving, and their families for their selflessness and unwavering commitment to our country.

The Safe Streets Summit Awards are an opportunity to highlight individuals and jurisdictions that have led to create better streets for all. Commissioner McGhee was nominated to receive this award by Aileen Bouclé, Executive Director, Miami-Dade Transportation Planning Organization (TPO).
