Commissioner Kionne L. McGhee

Kionne McGhee grew up in South Dade public housing and went on to earn a bachelor's degree from Howard University and a Juris Doctorate from the Thurgood Marshall School of Law.

He was first elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 2012 for Florida House District 117 and served as the Minority Leader from 2018 to 2020, when he was elected as Miami-Dade County Commissioner for District 9.

Commissioner McGhee applauds the confirmation of Markenzy Lapointe as U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida

The United States Senate confirmed Miami lawyer, Markenzy Lapointe, as U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida, making him the first Haitian-American to serve in this position. Lapointe was nominated by President Joe Biden earlier this year and is awaiting the swearing-in ceremony.
