Targeted Urban Areas
Miami-Dade County has identified 23 communities that require focused efforts for economic improvement. These areas are MDEAT's priority for raising awareness about critical issues impacting economic vitality. By addressing key factors that contribute to disparities between these communities and the county as a whole, MDEAT's Economic Development Action Committee (EDAC) works to develop and advocate initiatives that educate and train individuals and businesses for economic success.
In Fiscal Year 2016-17, MDEAT focused on establishing healthier, safer communities through educational opportunities and support for small businesses. By concentrating on key economic drivers in these areas, the EDAC provided technical resources and advocacy aimed at job creation, business development, and workforce training.
