Everyone's go-to helping hand

Mary Trujillo

Growing up in South Florida, Mary Trujillo is passionate about her community. As an administrative coordinator in the Communications and Customer Experience Department, she has been a member of the County family for over 30 years.

"Mary really stands out for her commitment to others. She and her entire family participate in every walk to raise funds in support of many different community groups," a coworker said.

"To be truthful, giving to others makes me so happy and warms my heart," Trujillo said. "It's a feeling like no other. It brings me joy. I don't need to get anything back."

Call on her to lend a hand, and she will be there. In addition to supporting Making Strides Against Breast Cancer and the United Way, she is involved with the Boy Scouts of America, the Alzheimer's Association and the Life Alliance Organ Recovery Agency at the University of Miami.

"Think about it," she added, "the fundraising walks offer great exercise. My husband, my kids and lots of family members come along because we like spending time together and know we are there for a good cause."

Trujillo started her career with the Department of Solid Waste Management. She came to the County Manager's Office to work for the Chief Information Officer and stayed with the communications group.

She is a positive person who is always kind and helpful. She is also incredibly resourceful and able to find the right person to solve almost any problem that comes her way.

"Providing good customer service is mission critical. No matter what, communication is key and lets the citizens know you care and are doing your best to provide assistance. With every call we answer or email we write, we are communicating our services and have to deliver our best effort," Trujillo added.

In addition to her many community activities, Trujillo thrives by spending her time off the job surrounded by her immediate and extended family. It's a big wonderful group of young and old that include her three sons.
