An employee of many hats

Ricardo is all about people. He thoroughly enjoys helping others and supporting the different projects under his umbrella as Human Resources (HR) operations coordinator.

Ricardo Bran's responsibilities include coordinating DAE volunteer assignments Countywide, handling HR social media, coordinating procurement contracts, special events, purchasing, fundraising for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer and more.

Employed with the County since 2001, Ricardo has honed his skills handling marketing for the Deering Estate as well as Board of County Commissioners media aide with communications, as assistant to the director for the International Trade Consortium and at the Department of Corrections as an AO 2. He joined HR in 2015 and now works directly with the HR director as a member of her executive team.

“I love the fact that no two days are the same for me,” Ricardo said. “From unemployment to emergency management, to onboarding new staff and fundraising, I never know what my day is going to be like. I am honored that I have earned the trust of those around me to get things done.”

Ricardo’s sense of humor can make people feel at ease. His life experiences create common ground, making it easy for him to relate with others. Employees find him to be understanding and that he gives every issue his full attention. He is known to get results on his assignments.

With such varied experiences and many work assignments, it was difficult for him to pick a favorite assignment. But, he happily recalled getting a Deering Estate exhibit as part of the Appleby’s in Cutler Bay, having Channel 10 and Univision 23 do newscasts from the Estate as part of the 20th Anniversary of Hurricane Andrew; and more recently, being a part of SURGE.

“Yes, it was hot and humid but as a part of SURGE, I got my steps in and met a lot of great employees that I wouldn’t have otherwise.”

When not at work, Ricardo travels and listens to music. He stays in shape and has participated in the Walk Around the World and Steps Challenges.

“I never take anything too seriously and I’m always smiling and trying to find the positive in life. It helps me deliver good customer service and stay balanced and stress-free. That should be a requirement for every job.”
