Passion for problem-solving and finding innovative solutions

Anderson Gonzalez

Anderson Gonzalez, a quality assurance administrator at the Miami-Dade County Water and Sewer Department (WASD), is no stranger to improving process efficiencies within the department. With a passion for problem-solving and a background in computer science, Gonzalez is dedicated to finding innovative solutions that benefit the department, the residents and contractors of Miami-Dade County.

Gonzalez began his career with Miami-Dade County in 2016 at the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens. After a brief stint working in corrections, he joined WASD, where he quickly rose through the ranks. Starting as a New Business Processor, New Business Representative and then serving as a Construction Field Support Coordinator, Gonzalez now holds the role of Quality Assurance Administrator in the Utility Development Services Division.

"I’m the type of person who, if I don’t know an answer, will go out of my way to find it," Gonzalez shared. "Starting from the bottom provided me with a great opportunity to be exposed to all aspects of the division."

His “never say no” mantra, along with his technical background, has allowed Gonzalez to thrive within the department.

One of Gonzalez's most notable achievements was his quick adaptation during the pandemic. Gonzalez used his expertise in computer science to create online services that allowed contractors to submit paperwork and pay for services without needing to visit the office. This initiative not only solved an immediate challenge but also led to a long-term improvement in operations.

As a result, contractors can now conveniently handle their requests online, streamlining the process and providing flexibility. This innovation continues to benefit the department to this day.

Gonzalez's commitment to excellent customer service has earned him recognition from the contractors he works with. One contractor shared their experience with the WASD leadership team.

"I would like to bring to your attention that I have been dealing with a WASD case in reference to the sewer connection at my properties in the Miami-Dade County NE area in the past weeks," the contractor said. "During the process, I had contact with Mr. Anderson Gonzalez while I was trying to clarify the issue. Without getting into details of the case itself, it was important for me to let you know that Mr. Anderson's communication with me, through emails and phone calls, was outstanding, helpful and amazingly professional. An example of great customer service to the community."

This feedback is just one example of Gonzalez going above and beyond in his role.

When Gonzalez is not assisting contractors or driving process improvements at WASD, he enjoys crafting and traveling with his wife.
