Observing Memorial Day

Miami-Dade County offices and libraries will be closed on Memorial Day, Monday, May 26, to remember and honor the men and women who lost their lives in military service to our country. Here is more information on County closings and a few Memorial Day weekend activities where you and your family can recognize and enjoy the gift of freedom their sacrifice helps to preserve. 

County Services for Monday, May 26

• Solid Waste Management will collect curbside garbage and recycling
• Miami‑Dade Libraries will be closed
• Transit will operate on Sunday schedule

Activities

• Hyundai Air & Sea Show, May 24-25
  Enjoy a fun-filled way to recognize the country’s military and first responders at Hyundai Air & Sea Show, and pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice defending our freedom.
  
  
• Deering Estate Reduced Admission, May 24-26
  Take advantage of free or reduced admission to the Deering Estate during Memorial Day Weekend. General admission will be reduced to $8. As part of Blue Star Museums, active duty military personnel, and up to five family members, receive free admission to Deering Estate this summer, from Armed Forces Day through Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 1.  
  
  
• Zoo Miami: Honor the Brave, May 23-26
  Active military and veterans get free admission with a valid photo I.D. at Zoo Miami's Honor the Brave event. Accompanying guests will receive 50 percent off admissions. Tickets must be purchased at the gate to receive discount. 
  
  
• American Legion/Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Day Service, May 26, starting at 11 a.m.

• Miami Attraction & Museum Months, through May 31
  Spend the last days of Miami Museum & Attraction Month at one of the numerous beauiful museums and attractions around our County. Take advantage of the big discounts and visit places like Vizcaya Museum & Gardens, Fairchild Tropical Garden, and The Deering Estate.
  
  
• Miami-Dade Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces
  The unofficial start of summer starts on Memorial Day weekend and Miami-Dade Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces is ready for you to enjoy the holiday. Be sure to plan ahead to avoid heavy traffic or to choose prime picnic locations before visiting any marinas, beaches, parks and atoll pools
