Observing Memorial Day

Miami-Dade County offices and libraries will be closed on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25, to remember and honor the men and women who lost their lives in military service to our country. Here is more information on County closings and a few Memorial Day weekend activities where you and your family can recognize and enjoy the gift of freedom their sacrifice helps to preserve.
County Services for Monday, May 25
- Solid Waste Management will collect curbside garbage and recycling
- Miami‑Dade Libraries will be closed
- Transit will operate on Sunday schedule

- Hyundai Air & Sea Show, May 23-24
Enjoy a fun-filled way to recognize the country’s military and first responders at Hyundai Air & Sea Show, and pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice defending our freedom. - Deering Estate Reduced Admission, May 23-25
Take advantage of free or reduced admission to the Deering Estate during Memorial Day Weekend. General admission will be reduced to $8. Bring a picnic and enjoy a relaxing day outdoors among the Royal Palm trees overlooking the quiet waters of Biscayne Bay. Guests can enjoy a Guided Tour of the Richmond Cottage at 11:30 a.m. and a Nature Preserve Tour at 12:30 p.m. As part of Blue Star Museums, active duty military personnel, and up to five family members, receive free admission to Deering Estate this summer, from Armed Forces Day, May 16, through Labor Day, Sept. 7. - Miami-Dade Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces
The unofficial start of summer starts on Memorial Day weekend, and Miami-Dade Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces is ready for you to enjoy the holiday. Be sure to plan ahead to avoid heavy traffic or to choose prime picnic locations before visiting any marinas, beaches, parks or atoll pools.
