County offices will close on Friday, May 8 for Law Enforcement Appreciation Day

All County offices and libraries will be closed Friday, May 8, in observance of Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. In 2022, the Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners passed legislation making the second Friday in May an annual County holiday to honor the men and women who serve and protect the citizens of Miami-Dade County.  

County services closed

• All Miami-Dade County administrative offices will be closed Friday, May 8
• Libraries will be closed Friday, May 8

County services on regular schedule

• Miami-Dade Transit will run on a regular schedule
• Solid Waste Management will be offering regularly-scheduled waste and recycling service

Weekend Activities

• Spend time with the whole family at Miami-Dade County Parks. Enjoy nature trails, go on our waterways or enjoy a number of activities offered by Miami-Dade Parks in our outdoor spaces. 
• Spend the long weekend learning about the history of South Florida. Visit Deering Estate or Vizcaya to learn more about these historic spaces and how they contributed to our community today. 
• Fruit & Spice Park, Zoo Miami and Trail Glades Range are all open for everyone to enjoy. Choose an attraction that interests you to enjoy the holiday weekend. 
• Discover performances, museums and art attractions in person or virtually with Culture Shock Miami.
