Celebrate Drinking Water Week, May 3–9

The Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department (WASD) is recognizing Drinking Water Week from May 3–9. For more than 40 years, utilities across North America have used this observance to educate communities about the importance of reliable drinking water, the infrastructure that supports it, and the dedicated professionals who ensure it is delivered to homes and businesses every day.

WASD provides drinking water to approximately 2.8 million residents and visitors each day from three water treatment plants, dozens of pump stations, and an extensive network of pipelines. As part of the Department’s ongoing $8.9 billion Capital Improvement Program (CIP), WASD is modernizing infrastructure, strengthening system resilience and enhancing long-term reliability.

Drinking Water Week also serves as an opportunity to raise awareness about conservation and the importance of protecting water sources. WASD encourages residents to practice responsible water use by reducing unnecessary consumption, fixing leaks and taking advantage of conservation programs, including rebates for high-efficiency fixtures.
