About the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office

The Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office (MDSO) will commit its resources in partnership with the community to promote a safe and secure environment, maintain order, provide for the safe and expeditious flow of traffic, and practice our core values of integrity, respect, service and fairness.

We provide basic police services throughout the unincorporated area of Miami-Dade County, Miami Lakes, Palmetto Bay and Cutler Bay. Our decentralized police patrol in eight districts.

Our specialized patrol teams include the airport, seaport, marine, motorcycle, bomb disposal and SWAT. Our crime investigators work with other law enforcement agencies, from local cities to the Department of Homeland Security.

Social Media Terms of Use

The Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office (MDSO) recognizes and appreciates the rights of all members of our online community to free speech and freedom of expression. All departmental social media sites and all comments posted, however, are regularly monitored by administrators who reserve the right to report to the host site obscenities and hate speech.   Furthermore, users are subject to the host site's Terms of Service, and any user in violation of the Terms of Service will be reported. Accordingly, the public is cautioned that comments that are obscene, vulgar, sexually explicit, threatening in nature, advocate criminal behavior, discriminate, include clearly inaccurate information, or are unrelated to the intended topic of discussion or provide links to other third party sites, will be removed. Additionally, the MDSO has the right, with or without notice, to block access to its social media pages to any user who consistently violates the policy guidelines.

Since departmental social media sites are a public forum for the MDSO, any content posted is considered official business and is subject to proper retention and disclosure pursuant to Florida law.
