La Comisionada Natalie Milian Orbis Elimina Más de 120,000 Facturas de Impuestos a la Propiedad Innecesarias

Press Release elected /district06, 2026-04-21 2026-04-21T12:00:00.000Z 08 00 am Francesa Arenas [email protected] 786-372-8211 Commissioner Natalie Milian Orbis Eliminates More Than 120,000 Wasteful Property Tax Bills In a major win for Miami-Dade taxpayers, the Board of County Commissioners today approved a resolution sponsored by Commissioner Natalie Milian Orbis to eliminate the mailing and processing of more than 120,000 small property tax bills that cost government time and money to pursue.
In a major win for Miami-Dade taxpayers, the Board of County Commissioners today approved a resolution sponsored by Commissioner Natalie Milian Orbis to eliminate the mailing and processing of more than 120,000 small property tax bills that cost government time and money to pursue.

The reform targets an outdated and wasteful practice that forced taxpayers and county staff through a collection process for nominal amounts that often made little fiscal sense to chase. By cutting off thousands of these low value bills from the system, the County is taking a practical step to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and protect taxpayer dollars.

The measure directs Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez to stop sending these small tax notices and instructs the Property Appraiser not to place those amounts on the tax roll. The change follows a recommendation from the Tax Collector’s Office and will remain in effect unless modified by the Board.

Commissioner Milian Orbis said the action reflects the kind of government residents have been demanding for years: simpler, smarter, and more respectful of the people who pay the bills.

“For too long, government has continued practices that waste money simply because that is how they have always been done,” said Commissioner Milian Orbis. “That is not good enough for the taxpayers of Miami-Dade County. We should not be spending public dollars, staff time, and administrative resources chasing small bills that cost more to process than they are worth. This is common sense. This is responsible government. And this is exactly the kind of reform residents expect us to deliver.”

Milian Orbis added that families across Miami-Dade are watching every dollar, and they expect their government to do the same.

“When taxpayers are making tough choices at home, government has a duty to do its part,” she said. “This reform cuts waste, reduces unnecessary bureaucracy, and helps make sure public resources are focused where they belong, on core services and real community needs. It may seem like a simple fix, but it sends a much bigger message: finally, we are willing to challenge bad processes, make smart changes, and put taxpayers first.”

— Commissioner Natalie Milian Orbis
Miami-Dade County, District 6
/resources/images/releases/headshot/district06-headshot.jpg no 2026 00 a.m. 00 a.m. Commission District 06 1 rel1777905155739918 Commission District 06 Main Office,City of Hialeah 1000 SW 57th Avenue,501 President Donald J. MIAMI-DADE ( April 21, 2026 )–
