Press Release elected /district06, 2026-05-21 2026-05-21T12:00:00.000Z 08 00 am Francesa Arenas [email protected] 786-372-8211 Commissioner Natalie Milian Orbis Applauds Federal Action Against Relative of Sanctioned Cuban Regime Official Miami-Dade County Commissioner Natalie Milian Orbis is applauding federal action following reports that Adys Lastres Morera, sister of the Executive President of the sanctioned Cuban military conglomerate GAESA, Ania Guillermina Lastres Morera, was arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement after her permanent resident status was terminated.
Miami-Dade County Commissioner Natalie Milian Orbis is applauding federal action following reports that Adys Lastres Morera, sister of the Executive President of the sanctioned Cuban military conglomerate GAESA, Ania Guillermina Lastres Morera, was arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement after her permanent resident status was terminated.

“I want to thank President Donald J. Trump and Secretary Marco Rubio for taking action,” Commissioner Milian Orbis added. “Every dollar that flows to GAESA helps fund the dictatorship’s machinery of repression, from political prisons and state surveillance to the military and intelligence networks threatening freedom just 90 miles from our shores. The same regime that terrorizes the Cuban people should never be allowed to quietly profit from the freedoms and opportunities of the United States.”

Secretary of State Marco Rubio identified Adys Lastres Morera as the sister of the Executive President of GAESA, the Cuban military-controlled financial conglomerate he said “steals millions in aid for the Cuban people at the behest of the regime.”

According to Secretary Rubio, Morera had been living in Florida, managing real estate assets, and aiding Havana’s communist regime until her permanent resident status was terminated. He also announced that she was arrested and is now in the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Secretary Rubio made clear that there will be no safe haven in the United States for foreign nationals who threaten our national security or seek to live lavishly while supporting hostile regimes.

“This is exactly why we have been pushing for stronger oversight, transparency, and enforcement regarding individuals connected to the Cuban regime operating in Miami,” said Commissioner Natalie Milian Orbis. “The Cuban exile community knows firsthand the suffering caused by the dictatorship and the military apparatus that profits from oppression while the Cuban people live in poverty.”

Commissioner Milian Orbis has led County efforts to expose Cuba sanctions loopholes, support stronger federal enforcement, and identify business activity tied to the Cuban regime. —

Commissioner Natalie Milian Orbis
Miami-Dade County, District 6
/resources/images/releases/headshot/district06-headshot.jpg no Business owner standing outside coffee shop. 2026 00 a.m. 00 a.m. Commission District 06 1 rel1780060599352193 Commission District 06 Main Office,City of Hialeah 1000 SW 57th Avenue,501 President Donald J. MIAMI-DADE ( May 21, 2026 )–
