Mayor Daniella Levine Cava to release Climate Action Strategy progress report on Earth Day
Mayor Levine Cava will present the report at The CLEO Institute’s inaugural “Walk the Talk” 5K Earth Day event
In commemoration of Earth Day, Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava will join The CLEO Institute’s inaugural “Walk the Talk” 5K taking place at MAST Academy. At the event, the mayor will release the first progress report on the County’s Climate Action Strategy, which was introduced on Earth Day last year and set ambitious goals for Miami-Dade to reach 50% greenhouse gas emissions reductions by 2030 and net-zero emissions by 2050.
Following the 5k walk/run, Mayor Levine Cava will share progress made in the last year to advance the county’s climate goals and projects in the pipeline.
The 5k walk/run will bring awareness to the climate & environmental issues affecting South Florida and motivate residents to get involved in efforts to make our state become more resilient against climate change. Participants can register for the 5k at walkthetalkmiami.com.
The event registration is open to the public from 7:00 a.m. with the run starting at 8:00 a.m. and the walk starting at 9:00 a.m. Mayor Levine Cava is expected to speak at 9:45 a.m.
After, the public is invited to attend the free Earth Day fair for family friendly activities, live music, educational booths, and food.
