Vice Chairman Kionne McGhee to Convene Urgent Meeting at Kristi House on Impact of Proposed Budget Cuts to Community Organizations
Vice Chairman Kionne L. McGhee of the Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners will host a critical meeting on Friday, August 8, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. at Kristi House, located at 1265 NW 12th Avenue, Miami, FL 33136, to address the far-reaching consequences of proposed budget cuts to community-based organizations in the Mayor’s FY 2026 proposed budget.
The meeting will gather nonprofit leaders whose County grant funding has been entirely eliminated under the current proposal. Vice Chairman McGhee—an unwavering advocate for social services—is convening this discussion to better understand the immediate impact these cuts will have on vulnerable families and to collaborate on solutions that protect the community’s most essential programs.
“Miami-Dade’s nonprofit organizations provide life-saving, transformational services to thousands of residents every single day,” said Vice Chairman McGhee. “I intend to ensure their voices are heard and that we work together to preserve the critical support systems that hold our community together.”
Members of the media are welcome to attend. Interview and photo opportunities will be available following the meeting.
“We are incredibly grateful to Vice Chairman McGhee for his steadfast leadership and for shining a spotlight on this urgent crisis,” said Amanda Altman, CEO of Kristi House. “These proposed cuts threaten to dismantle services that children and families depend on. We look forward to working collaboratively to safeguard our community’s most vulnerable.”
