New Miami Worldcenter Metromover Station reopens with new name after major renovation
Today, the Miami Worldcenter Station, formerly the Park West Metromover Station, has officially reopened to the public, after major improvements. Metromover passengers now have access to the completely renovated station adjacent to Miami Worldcenter, a world-class urban destination in Downtown Miami, that led and paid for the modernization effort.
“The reopening of the Miami Worldcenter Metromover Station marks a major milestone in our mission to create a more connected, accessible, and vibrant Miami-Dade,” said Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. “Thanks to our strong public-private partnership with Miami Worldcenter, we’ve delivered critical transit improvements that enhance safety, rider experience, and convenience—while saving taxpayer dollars. Miami Worldcenter is a shining example of a transit-centric development that puts people first, reduces reliance on cars, and creates a walkable, sustainable urban core. This project reflects our commitment to smart, efficient government and to investing in infrastructure that moves our community forward.”
Among the most notable improvements is the installation of brighter, energy-efficient lighting throughout the station and surrounding areas - creating a safer, more welcoming environment, especially during evening hours.
Additional station upgrades include:
- Modern design: New platform tiles with contemporary finishes for a sleek, updated look.
- Improved access: Renovated entrance canopy and refurbished escalator to enhance safety and passenger flow.
- Comfortable seating: New, modern platform seating for an improved user experience.
- Fresh feel: Restored concrete walls and ceilings, sealed and repainted for a clean, polished finish.
“In collaboration with the developers of Miami Worldcenter, a Transit-Oriented Development, Metromover passengers now have access to the completely renovated station with enhanced safety features and a modernized appearance,” said Stacy L. Miller, P.E., Director and CEO of the Miami-Dade County Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW). “Through public-private partnerships such as this one, we are continuing to improve the overall commuter experience while making smart investments to ensure public transportation remains strong, safe, and better-connected in the years ahead.”
With seamless access to Miami-Dade Transit’s free Metromover system for both visitors and tenants, Miami Worldcenter is emerging as a model Transit-Oriented Community—offering a dynamic mix of entertainment, retail, residential, and commercial spaces within a walkable, green, and transit-connected urban core.
Similar closures and improvements have also been made to the Freedom Tower and Museum Park Stations with nearby popular destinations such as the Kaseya Center, home of the Miami HEAT, Miami Dade College and the Freedom Tower, Pérez Art Museum Miami and Phillip & Patricia Frost Museum of Science.
Metromover is a free elevated Automated People Mover (APM) system that operates seven days a week servicing 21 stations along a 4.4-mile track in the Downtown Miami, Omni, and Brickell areas. The system is a popular mobility option used by more than seven million commuters annually including employees, students, area residents, and visitors. It is one of the very few free, automated people mover systems in a major metro area in the world.
