Miami-Dade County marks Consumer Protection Week March 1-7
Mediating consumer complaints, including merchant disputes, motor vehicle repair and wage theft are all services provided by the Consumer and Neighborhood Protection Division
Miami-Dade County will mark Consumer Protection Week with community outreach events designed to educate residents about their consumer rights and provide essential information on complimentary services offered by the Consumer and Neighborhood Protection Division in the Department of Regulatory and Economic Resources (RER).
“Consumer Protection Week is an important reminder for residents to stay informed and empowered,” said Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. “Our Consumer and Neighborhood Protection team works every day to protect residents by mediating complaints, investigating wage theft, and helping people navigate scams and fraud. I encourage everyone to take advantage of these resources and know their rights.”
RER invites residents to participate in these events:
Tuesday, March 3
Meet with staff at the Stephen P. Clark Government Center lobby
111 NW 1 Street, Miami, FL 33128
9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Thursday, March 5
Meet with staff at the Miami-Dade County Permitting and Inspection Center (PIC) lobby
11805 SW 26 Street, Miami, FL 33175
9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Consumer Protection Week runs March 1-7 and focuses on educating the community about their consumer rights and on fraud prevention. Residents will have the chance to learn about crucial topics such as consumer complaints, wage theft, consumer laws and tips, regulated industries such as vehicle towing, booting, and motor vehicle repair shops, and much more. Division staff will also be demonstrating the Community Association Registry, an easily accessible and centralized repository of important documents that condominium associations, cooperative associations and homeowners’ associations are required to submit to RER every year. Examples of the information provided include the association’s governing documents, financial statements, insurance policies, contact information and budget information. The registry offers transparency and access to vital information that residents may need about their association.
Residents are encouraged to visit the Consumer Protection website for more information about services and to learn how to get the help they need. For additional details or inquiries, email [email protected] or call 786-469-2333.
