Commissioner Natalie Milian Orbis Highlights Expansion of “Families on the Fly” Program at Miami International Airport
Miami-Dade County Commissioner Natalie Milian Orbis and Miami International Airport Director Ralph Cutie joined multiple media outlets this morning to highlight the expansion of the Families on the Fly initiative at Miami International Airport, a program designed to improve the travel experience for families with young children.
As part of the expansion, Families on the Fly is now available at TSA Checkpoints 2, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 throughout MIA, helping families traveling with strollers and young children move through security more efficiently while reducing congestion for all passengers.
“As a mother of two young children, I understand firsthand how stressful air travel can be for families,” said Commissioner Natalie Milian Orbis. “Families on the Fly is about making the airport experience smoother, safer, and less overwhelming for parents while also improving efficiency for everyone moving through MIA.”
The program comes as Miami-Dade County prepares for increased international travel and major global events, including the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
“Families on the Fly is not just good for parents. It is good for everyone moving through MIA,” Commissioner Milian Orbis added. “When families have a dedicated space to navigate security screening, everyone benefits from shorter lines, less congestion, and a better airport experience.”
Commissioner Milian Orbis thanked Director Ralph Cutie, Miami International Airport staff, and the Transportation Security Administration for their partnership in expanding the program and improving the travel experience for families passing through MIA.
