Commissioner Natalie Milian Orbis Issues Statement Following NTSB Update at Miami International Airport
Miami-Dade County Commissioner Natalie Milian Orbis issued the following statement after today’s National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) press conference regarding the ongoing investigation into Sunday’s tragic Amazon Prime Air cargo aircraft incident at Miami International Airport.
During the press conference, NTSB Chair Jennifer Homendy announced that an additional runway has been returned to service. Chair Homendy also indicated that the NTSB expects its on-site investigation to continue for approximately another week before the investigation continues off-site at the agency’s headquarters.
“I am encouraged by the progress being made by the NTSB and the reopening of an additional runway at Miami International Airport.
There are still questions that need to be answered, and we must allow the investigative process to run its course and determine exactly what happened. We will continue working closely with MIA, the NTSB and our federal and local partners as this investigation continues.
Most importantly, we remember the five lives tragically lost: Rolando Aleman Leon, Yoel Rodriguez Naranjo, Julio C. Pineda, Carlos Acosta Fajardo, and Javierkys Reyes Quevedo. My thoughts and prayers remain with their families and loved ones, as well as those who were injured and continue on their road to recovery.”
