Supervisor of Elections to hold media availability Monday, October 5, the last day to register to vote, to discuss extended hours, key election dates, and the longstanding role of law enforcement professionals in protecting voters
Supervisor Garcia to join her team at Elections Headquarters, which will remain open until 11:59 p.m.; and will reiterate that law enforcement is never inside polling places and only assists with traffic and pedestrian safety and security at Elections Headquarters
Miami-Dade County Supervisor of Elections Alina Garcia will be available to members of the media on Monday, October 5, at 11 a.m. at Elections Headquarters to discuss the last day to register to vote for the November General Election, other important dates and deadlines, and the longstanding role of law enforcement colleagues during Early Voting and on Election Day.
With extended hours, Monday is an important opportunity for eligible citizens who are not yet registered to register to vote and for voters to visit Elections Headquarters with questions. The Supervisor and Elections team will be available until 11:59 p.m. to assist voters.
As election activity increases, residents may also notice a greater law enforcement presence around Elections Headquarters and outside some of the busiest Early Voting locations. Officers assist with traffic and pedestrian management to help voters safely enter and exit voting locations and help safeguard Elections Headquarters, where live ballots are received and secured throughout the election period. Law enforcement officers are never stationed inside polling places and do not play any role in the voting process.
“We encourage all eligible citizens who are not yet registered to vote to do so. Your vote is your voice,” said Supervisor Garcia. “Election security, access, accuracy and transparency remain our top priorities. We want to ensure the voting process is safe and convenient for every voter. We also thank our law enforcement officers for their professionalism and support.”
The Office of the Supervisor of Elections remains committed to providing a secure, orderly and accessible election process for all Miami-Dade County voters.
