Miami-Dade Supervisor of Elections Statement regarding United States Congressional District 27
Media Availability today at 2:30 p.m. at Elections Headquarters
“After the Election Day canvass of the November 3 General Election, the margin in the U.S. Congressional District 27 race currently stands at 0.46%, falling within Florida's 0.50% automatic machine recount threshold. A manual recount takes place when the margin is 0.25% or less.
202 Vote-by-mail ballots in Congressional District 27 are still undergoing the curing process, allowing voters until 5 p.m. on Thursday to resolve signature discrepancies. Provisional ballots cast during Early Voting and Election Day in Congressional District 27 are also being reviewed. The Canvassing Board will reconvene on Friday, November 6, to review these ballots after which additional information will be available.
It is important to clarify that the Florida Secretary of State is responsible for ordering an automatic recount when the statutory threshold is met. If a recount is ordered, it would not begin before Saturday, November 7, 2026.
Finally, I want to extend my sincere gratitude to Miami-Dade voters for participating in this General Election. Countywide turnout reached 60.5%, surpassing the turnout recorded in the 2022 Midterm Election. Thank you for making your voices heard and participating in our democracy.”
