Regional Transfer Stations
Important Notice: Temporary closure of the Central Transfer Station
Please be advised that the Solid Waste Management Central Transfer Station is temporarily closed for approximately four (4) weeks. The closure began on April 17. During this period, please redirect all vehicles and loads to one of the alternative facilities listed below.
DSWM Facilities:
West Transfer Station: 2900 SW 72nd Ave
Northeast Transfer Station: 18701 NE 6th Ave
South Dade Landfill: 23707 SW 97th Ave
North Dade Landfill (Gate A): 21500 NW 47th Ave
Most garbage and trash collected by county, municipal and private waste haulers is delivered to one of 3 regional transfer stations in Miami-Dade County. This distribution system helps reduce truck traffic on roads, travel time for waste haulers and reduce fuel consumption by eliminating multiple trips to remote disposal sites.
Waste delivered to the transfer stations is then transported by 85-cubic yard transfer vehicles to the Resources Recovery Facility, North Dade Landfill, South Dade Landfill or Medley Landfill (through an agreement with the landfill's owner, Waste Management, Inc.).
