How inmates can report sexual abuse
Our long-established zero tolerance policy – known as the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) – helps us to provide a safe and secure environment for our inmates against sexual assault, abuse or harassment.
All incidents of sexual misconduct or harassment involving Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation Department staff are reported to the Security and Internal Affairs Bureau.
To report sexual abuse at any Miami-Dade County Corrections and Rehabilitation Detention Center
- Use an inmate phone to call the confidential hotline
- Speak to any staff member, supervisor, chaplain, counselor, health care or mental health care worker
MDCR has a zero tolerance policy for all sexual battery/abuse/harassment of those incarcerated within our facilities. If you suspect or were advised of sexual battery/abuse/harassment of anyone incarcerated, you may report this as a third party by immediately notifying a staff member. You may also contact the Security and Internal Affairs Bureau at 786-263-6500 or our "See Something, Say Something" Reporting Service at 786-263-6599.
