Most tours are open to all ages. Closed-toe shoes are required to participate in tours.

Join our naturalist as we set the record straight on bats, a group of fantastic but misunderstood mammals. The program will start with a short presentation inside on the importance of and common misconceptions on bats, followed by a night hike where we will use special acoustic devices to listen for bat calls that we may not be able to hear with the human ear. Feel free to bring hotdogs and marshmallows to roast over our campfire following the walk. Campfire & Bat walk is for all ages.

Once the site of Orchid Jungle, the Hattie Bauer Preserve is home to rare plant life and historic structures. In this guided tour through an extensive, forested trail system you'll learn about Orchid Jungle in its heyday, what caused its downfall, & the efforts the parks department is making to restore it. This program meets at the Hattie Bauer Preserve front gates; please bring closed-toe shoes, insect repellant, sun coverage, & plenty of drinking water. Hattie Bauer Hike is for all ages.

Grab your binoculars and a to-go coffee mug and head to Castellow Hammock Park to learn the basics of birding at one of Miami-Dade County's secret birding hotspots. Open to beginners and experts alike, we'll seek out the colorful feathered visitors who migrate into South Florida every fall and winter while sipping on coffee provided by the park. Children's binoculars are available for our younger guests. Beginner Birding is for ages 5 and older.

Enjoy a morning of discovery in the world of native and exotic creatures that call the park home. Starts with a hike through the endless nature trails and search for these creatures with the help of a naturalist. After the hike you will get to meet some of the nature center residents and a chance to interact with Shakira, the resident Red Tail Boa. Program will follow social distancing & sanitization guidelines outline by CDC, local and state officials. Wildlife encounter and nature hike is for all ages.
