The program will start with a short presentation inside on the importance of and common misconceptions on bats, followed by a night hike were we will use special acoustic devices to listen for bat calls that we may not be able to hear with the human ear.

Grab your binoculars and a to-go coffee mug and head to Castellow Hammock Park to learn the basics of birding at one of Miami-Dade County's secret birding hotspots. Open to beginners and experts alike, we'll seek out the colorful feathered visitors who migrate into South Florida every fall and winter while sipping on coffee provided by the park. Join Miami EcoAdventure naturalist as we search for some of South Florida's native butterflies that visit or call Castellow Hammock Park their home. On this leisurely hike, participants walk amongst to blooming flowers in Castellow Hammock's bird and butterfly garden, identifying and cataloging numerous butterfly species with the help of an interpretive guide.

Once the site of Orchid Jungle, the Hattie Bauer Preserve is home to rare plant life and historic structures. In this guided tour through an extensive, forested trail system you'll learn about Orchid Jungle in its heyday, what caused its downfall, & the efforts the parks department is making to restore it. This program meets at the Hattie Bauer Preserve front gates; please bring closed-toe shoes, insect repellant, sun coverage, & plenty of drinking water.

A stunning example of the critically endangered Pine Rockland habitat, Navy Wells is certainly worth a visit. The biodiversity of this fire-dependent habitat always leaves something new to see on this walking tour through the 350-acre preserve. After our walk, we will stop just next door to the local fruit stand Robert Is Here where their famous smoothies and milkshakes are available for purchase.

Enjoy a morning of discovery in the world of native and exotic creatures that call the park home. Starts with a hike through the endless nature trails and search for these creatures with the help of a naturalist. After the hike you will get to meet some of the nature center residents and a chance to interact with Shakira, the resident Red Tail Boa.
