Family and Child Empowerment (Project FACE)
Project Family and Child Empowerment (FACE) provides 16 weeks of intense intervention and program activities for youths ages 8 to 18 who have been diverted from the juvenile justice system.
Those referred by the Juvenile Services Department attend the program for 12 weeks.
Services include:
- Individual counseling
- Group counseling
- Discussion groups
- Homework assistance
- Workshops and seminars
- Video presentations
- Teen summits
- Other activities
Participants are referred under the following type of categories:
- As a result of committing a criminal offense.
- Youths who have not committed a criminal offense, but have demonstrated qualifiable behaviors and/or have academic issues.
- Under the safe haven category, where participants are provided a safe environment after school and receive assistance with homework and tutoring as needed.
The program is voluntary. If a youth discontinues the program and does not complete the program requirements, there are no consequences. The case will be closed and referred to the assigned JSD counselor.
There are no limits for participation and there is no cost associated with the program.
