Pay a Pet Citation
Civil citations are issued to pet owners who do not comply with Miami-Dade County ordinances or laws. For full details about the regulations governing animals, please refer to Miami-Dade Chapter 5 - Animals and Fowl.
If you receive a citation, you have the following options:
- Pay the citation:
Payment of a citation does not bring the pet into compliance. Compliance is achieved only when all requirements listed in the citation, including licensing, rabies vaccination and any other mandated conditions, have been fully satisfied
- Dispute the citation:
A dispute is a request for Animal Services to review the citation and any supporting documentation you provide
Note: Filing a dispute does not pause, extend, or replace the 20-day appeal deadline.
- Appeal the citation:
An appeal is a formal request for an administrative hearing and must be submitted in writing within 20 calendar days from the date the citation was issued
Note: Filing a dispute does not pause, extend, or replace the 20-day appeal deadline.
