Community Education Unit Presentations
The Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD) Education Program was established in September 1988, with the implementation of the school program known as Willy Whistle. Due to the success of the program, the Pedestrian Safety Education Program (PSEP) was established.
In 2017, the Education Program was re-named MDPD Community Education Unit (CEU). CEU is an educational component that provides a comprehensive approach to all aspects of community safety and engagement to citizens throughout Miami-Dade County (MDC). The CEU provides safety educational presentations to all age groups, ranging from pre-kindergarten to senior citizens. Currently, the CEU provides the following programs:
- Buckle Up with Buckle Bear Car Seat Safety
- Stranger Danger
- Pedestrian Safety
- Bicycle Safety
- 8 Keys Character Development
- Bullying Prevention
- Internet Safety
- Substance Abuse Prevention
- Career Day Presentations
Over the past several years the CEU has excelled in providing lively presentations to schools and members of our community. The CEU visits over 500 sites, conducts more than 2,100 safety presentations, and makes over 260,000 contacts each year. Additionally, the CEU attends dozens of meetings related to event planning and implementation of new programs.
