Old Cutler Road Traffic Circles
Starting November 2022, the Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) is scheduled to begin the construction of traffic circles along Old Cutler Road at the following locations: SW 184 Street, SW 152 Street, and SW 136 Street.
Improvements at the three intersections consist of the design of new roundabouts with sidewalks, curb and gutters, a storm drainage system, irrigation, pavement markings and signage, and roadway lighting.
The objective of the project is to provide safety and operational improvements to help traffic flow smoothly at the subject intersections and along the entire roadway network of Old Cutler Road. Based on the intersection level of service and roadway network analysis conducted by the Village of Palmetto Bay in 2019, it was determined that these improvements would result in better operating performance for Old Cutler Road.
The predominant crash types at the intersections were identified as rear-end, left-turn, and angle crash. Safety may be improved due to an expected reduction in left-turn and angle crashes associated with a roundabout design.
