Passenger Service Company Registration

To provide taxicab passenger services on behalf of a for-hire holder, the company must first obtain a Miami-Dade County Passenger Service Company Registration.

Taxicab passenger services include the following:

Providing for-hire vehicle color scheme and markings
Providing two-way radio or cellular telephone dispatch services
Maintaining and advertising of a telephone number for receiving all calls related to for-hire taxi services
Handling passenger complaints and passenger lost and found
Providing a properly listed telephone number for receiving all calls relating to for-hire vehicle service

Passenger Service Company Registration Fee

Effective October 1, 2005 $ 110.00
Effective October 1, 2006 $ 150.00

Cash will not be accepted. Fees can be paid by check, money order or cashiers check made payable to the Miami-Dade County Department of Transportation and Public Works. If renewing in person, the renewal fee can be paid by credit card (Mastercard or Visa).

Expiration
Certificates are valid for one year. The Passenger Service Company Certificate of Transportation cycle runs from April 1 to March 31 of the following year. Certificate renewal forms are mailed to the operator a minimum of 60 days prior to the expiration of the certificate. Transfers of Passenger Service Company certificates must be approved by the Board of County Commissioners.

- Depending on where the company is located, you may also need a municipal license
Decorative/advertising decals or complete wrapping of one or more windows are prohibited on vehicles regulated under the various for-hire and other transportation related ordinances under its purview is prohibited.
