Park Description

Larry & Penny Thompson Park and Campground is a first-class camping area adjacent to world-famous zoo Miami. It has 270 acres of natural South Florida woodland, bike trails, hiking paths, and a freshwater lake with its own beach that operates seasonally.

Our campground consists of 240 separate campsites for recreational vehicles, each with electrical, sewer and water hook-ups. Amenities include four large bathhouse facilities with laundry, restrooms and showers.

Rates effective as of Jan. 1, 2024:

  • Daily: $45 + tax
  • Weekly: $260 + tax
  • Monthly: $750 + tax

Tent Sites:
Available (7 day Maximum Stay)

Picnic Shelter Rentals:
There are 9 picnic shelters available for rent with different prices according to location ranging from $284.82 to $346.88. Shelters hold up to 100 people and have a 6-foot-long barbecue grill, 7 long picnic tables, running water for cleaning purposes. There is no electricity at the shelters. Call the office for dates and availability.

Beach and Waterslide admission:

  • Adults $6
  • Children ages 3-17 $4
  • Seniors over age 62 $4
