Building Officials
According to Florida Statute 468 the term Building Official means any of those employees of municipal or county governments with building construction regulation responsibilities who are charged with the responsibility for direct regulatory administration or supervision of plan review, enforcement, or inspection of building construction, erection, repair, addition, remodeling, demolition, or alteration projects that require permitting indicating compliance with the various construction codes.
- Chapter 8 Article II of the Code of Miami-Dade County contains additional information regarding the powers, duties, qualifications and appointment of Building Officials.
- There are currently 35 Building Officials certified by the Board of Rules and Appeals.
Meetings
The Building Officials' meeting was established with the intention of maintaining uniformity in the enforcement of the Building Code throughout all incorporated and unincorporated areas of Miami-Dade County.

Disciplinary Action Reports are provided to ensure that each Building Official possesses the most current information regarding the suspension or reinstatement of the permitting privileges of licensed contractors.
